CAP’SYSTEM CONNECT

Traffic light priority management and railway command transmission system

For which application ?

  • Traffic signal priority
  • Switch control and railway signaling
  • Tram location/Relocation
  • Storage / depot management

The principles

Cap’System Connect is a combination of a supervision software and on-board and ground equipment. It is a hybrid and digitised technology that uses both virtual and physical loops, integrating the following two areas of expertise :

Supervised traffic light priority management

  • Secure, real-time bidirectional radio communication to ensure exchanges between rolling stock and traffic light controllers
  • Digitisation of detection points (call, station, recalibration, crossing)
  • Reduction/elimination of physical loops
  • Supervision of network priority performance
  • Flexible configuration of the position of various virtual detection points and easy adaptation to parameter changes
  • Supervision of all deployed TLS equipment

Transmission of railway signalling commands:

  • Switch control and depot management
  • Use of physical loops
  • Real-time bidirectional digital communication
  • Location and relocation
  • Supervision of all deployed railway signalling equipment

One on board system for multi-application management : traffic light priority, switch commands, relocation, and depot management… All these functions are manageable thanks to an onboard system.

The benefits

  • Cost-effective equipment and installation
  • Reduction of civil engineering work by 60 to 70%
  • Easy replacement of existing equipment
  • Simplified maintenance operations
  • Scalable system architecture, adaptable to future network developments
  • Compatible with both tramway and bus networks

Our referencesTHE EXAMPLE OF BARCELONA

To modernize the traffic signal priority system for the Barcelona tramway and support the network’s expansion, Cap’System Connect was deployed across the “Trambaix” and “Trambesòs” lines, including:

  • 86 intersections
  • 36 trams
  • 35 km of track
  • 85 stops

Needs

  • Evolution and performance of the traffic signal priority system
  • Priority management and supervision

Objectives

  • Increase in commercial speed
  • Improvement of network performanc

Benefits

  • Savings on installation costs
  • 60 to 70% reduction in civil engineering work
  • Easier maintenance
